Receipt Generator

A receipt is proof of payment. It confirms a customer has paid for goods or services, and shows who it's from and who it's to, a unique receipt number, the date paid, how they paid, a description of what was bought, and the amount paid.

The subtotal is the sum of your line items. Take off any discount, work out tax on what's left, then add shipping for the total. Record what the customer actually paid in “Amount paid”; leave it blank, and the receipt is treated as paid in full. If they paid less than the total, the balance due shows the remaining amount; if they paid more, the change is calculated for you.

Give each receipt its own number and keep a copy, so you and your customer can trace what was paid and when. This is general information, not accounting advice; check your local tax authority or an accountant for your own situation.
