Invoice Generator

An invoice is a request for payment. It records what a customer owes for goods or services, and shows who it's from and who it's to, a unique invoice number, the date, a description of what's being charged for, and the total due. A purchase order (PO) number is optional, but worth quoting if your customer raised one so they can match the invoice to their order.

The subtotal is the sum of your line items. Take off any discount, work out tax on what's left, then add shipping, and that's the total. At an 8% rate, $100 of work, minus a $10 discount, is $90, plus $7.20 in tax, for $97.20 before any shipping.

Give each invoice its own number and keep a copy, so you and your customer can always trace what was billed and what's been settled. This is general information, not accounting advice; check your local tax authority or an accountant for your own situation.
